When you love what you do, beautiful people and situations simply come your way!! Let me tell you about The Tulum Miracle Wedding, love stories that inspire …
I first connected with Maggie on Facebook. Her message on the Brides Riviera Maya, Cancun Tulum Group on Oct. 2017 was this: “My fiancé and I have had an unfortunate string of events happen. Hurricane Irma destroyed our first venue, and just after we changed our location, hurricane Maria took out our second venue. We are hoping to have our wedding on either January 6th or 7th 2018 with very little wiggle room, as I am in a very demanding nursing program at the moment. We are kind of hoping for a miracle, but I’m not willing to give up yet. Locations in Tulum would be preferred, but I’m open to other options, as well.”
This struck me, can you even imagine seeing your wedding venues wiped out by major hurricanes???? Her “hoping for a miracle” made me think that I had to do something to help and that I had to act fast, as Maggie’s wedding date was less than 3 months away! I responded almost immediately and asked my dear friend Arlenis Ruiz Weddings & Romance, to please help us find a venue.
Guess what?? My friend Arlenis found a lovely place in Tulum during peak season (this is almost unheard of) within just a few weeks!!! Everything else fell into place as vendors started coming together to help this couple have their dream beach destination wedding. By the end of 2017, Maggie and Derek were working on the final details and getting ready to marry in a beautiful location (which by the way, they had never been to).
Just a few days prior to their wedding, I visited Tulum with wedding photographer, Jonathan Cossu, to actually meet this beautiful couple. We hugged, we laughed, shared our stories and took some fun pics on the beach. They both felt like family and I couldn’t be happier to officiate their #MiracleWeddingMX!!!
January 6th, 2018 … THE big day! Tulum was a bit cloudy but the sky opened up just in time for the ceremony. Everything was PERFECT and you could just feel the love and excitement of Maggie & Derek, friends and family and vendors alike. A proof that love brings people together and that “love conquers all” as Derek once told me.
After the beach wedding ceremony at NegroAmaro Tulum Beach Club, I stayed a bit longer and had a chance to chat with mom, dad and some of the wedding guests. I then realized that this was all possible because Maggie & Derek NEVER GAVE UP!! Life may throw many things your way … busy schedules, major hurricanes, challenges … etc… but if there is love and conviction, everything is possible!!!
My 2018 couldn’t have started better!!

hurricane Wilma was in 2005…and we haven’t been hit ( I have been living here for the last 20 years….) are you sure about the information given?
Hi Erika,
The hurricanes we mention in the post did not hit Mexico. This couple originally had their wedding booked in St. Thomas and St. Croix, both islands affected by the 2017 Hurricane Season. If you read the full post and check out the video interview, Maggie explains everything. Thanks for your concerns.
